Dallas Nicole Woodburn is a 19-year-old sophomore "AssociatesTrustee Scholar" at the University of Southern California.  Her recently released book, 3 a.m., has already garnered rave reviews from editors and authors alike.  Dallas has been published in numerous national magazines including Family Circle, Writer's Digest, Justine, Listen, Writing, Encounter, and The Hudson Valley Literary Magazine, and books such as Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul IV, Chicken Soup for the Girl's Soul, Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Real Deal series, So, You Wanna Be a Writer?, and Good Friends Come Along Once in a Lifetime.

Dallas has been reading and writing for as long as she can remember. In fifth grade, she wrote and self-published her first book of short stories and poems, titled There's A Huge Pimple On My Nose, that has sold more than 900 copies nationwide and has been reviewed in the Los Angeles Times and Ventura County Star newspapers and Girls' Life magazine. In 1998, Dallas won first place out of the state of California in the "Letters About Literature" essay contest with her letter to Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who lived in Germany during World War II and wrote her book Diary of a Young Girl when she was in hiding from the Nazis.

Dallas has since been featured in the nationally-released book, So You Wanna Be A Writer? which also includes advice from famous authors like Michael Crichton, Wendelin Van Draan and Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. She has done a few book signings at local book stores and was even flown up to San Jose to be a featured guest at the first annual Jack London Children's Writing Camp.

Dallas was chosen as Cosmo Girl! magazine's "Girl of the Month" and has been awarded the prestigious national Jackie Kennedy-Onassis/Jefferson Award and a Congressional Award Gold Medal for working to increase literacy awareness through her "Write On!" foundation. Her writing has earned her both statewide and national honors, including a silver medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and first place in both "Byline Magazine's" New Talent Short Story Contest and the "Let's Write" literary contest. In addition, Dallas wrote and served as assitant director for her high school's feature-length spring play, "The 74-Year-Old Rookie." She is currently working on her first novel, a story for teens loosely based upon her own life.

Dallas has given many book talks at elementary schools and book fairs. She says that's where she got her idea for "Write On!". "I was amazed to learn how enthusiastic the kids were about writing," she says. "It was like they all wanted to be writers in their hearts, but they just needed some inspiration, a push in the right direction, to get them started." And so "Write On!" was born, with the goal of nurturing a love of reading and writing in children, and motivating them to set goals and go after their dreams.

"If this organization helps just one person -- if just one person discovers their love of reading, one person decides they want to be a writer when they grow up, one person finds the inspiration to capture their dreams," Dallas shares,"then I will be happy. Then this project will have been worthwhile."
